So where did I get my dream to sail around the world solo??
I saw the true inspiration who is Jessica Watson in her film True Spirit.
She captivated my imagination and I believed that I could do the same thing as she did and this set me on my mission to learn to sail
We searched around and found a great local sailing club which we quickly joined, we were very lucky to get the last spaces in the junior section. I went every week and loved being on the water, it made me feel really happy and my quiet place!
I was really lucky as a lovely racing Oppie was put up for sale, I loved it and I was the very proud owner of my very own boat :0)
Well when you're learning you have the odd accident! I was happily sailing along when there was a large gust of wind and then a big concrete pontoon jumped out in front of me and I put a hole in the bow of the boat!
So my Dad borrowed a trailer and we took the boat home for repair. I helped and learnt how to use fibreglass and gelcoat. It was a lot of hard work but I enjoyed the learning
